on we go

just got back in boulder tonight. it's nice to be home. i haven't touched an instrument in over two weeks and it's bothering me.

saw a film tonight. The Man Who Fell to Earth (aka The Story of David Bowie's Eyes). if you haven't seen it, do so. it's a little lengthy, but worth it. a little cheeky.

hoping the new year brings in change. not sure why, i just feel it's needed. i think it's mutual... not quite sure, though.

sleep well (or at least better than i do),

Michelle Phillips meet Flw Ctnz: The Hot Mama

This is Michelle Phillips. The hot mama from the Mamas and the Papas. Skeeter is totally in love with her. And Mary from Peter Paul and Mary. Heart.

So we have over a month off. Songwriting sessions are in order. Maybe something returning to Skeeter's hillbilly roots [and boots]. We'll see.

In other news: Lady Britney Spears has regained her status as 'epic-ally haught'. She's come out with a new hit, popularly known as 'Manizer' in Asia, and the UK.....'Womanizer', in her home country [the U.S. of A.]. I particularly like this Director's Cut of the new video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gZSLIq6YiRY o-wow

Still watching Bob Ross and still loving dinosaurs. My next tattoo will be a Stegosaurus...on my face.

Found two rare Justin Vernon albums. They are blowing my mother-effing mind. yes. And my what.cd ratio is a .25. WHAT NOW BITCHES.

Crack Baby Cupcakes.

Can't wait to get back to work with the band. As soon as I figure out how to make a web link, I will post some new songs I've been working on, acoustic of course.

Word.

brutal

click the image to read it better.

this isn't really trying to promote, and this post certainly isn't in a timely fashion for this press flyer... but this album is just so insanely good. it's brutal. and surprisingly catchy.

more music ensues tomorrow and the days after. it's sooo goddamn cold outside. that's what we get for not having to deal with snow until this late in the year. i have no tolerance built up yet.

sunday is my "favorite" day of the week. glad it's almost over..

hoagies and grinders

more music tonight in the house of citizenshipness. we worked out a few new songs tonight that are going to sound beeechin once we get them recorded. We're thinking of orchestration.. yeeeaah. We've kinda hit a spot where music nights lean towards multiple 20 minute songs that sprout from nowhere. someone will be playing a riff and then someone steps on an tamborine a coupla times and then it just builds. Playing with a projector kicks ass. serious ass. if you've never done it, try it now. RIGHT NOW. I thought it was bitchin to just play live with one... practice with it. It's just as cool. After that we all took a train to crunktown, USA. except matt. he sat and thought about taking pictures tomorrow. coooool, right? Tunes sounded good, though. We're starting to find out that we know more about each other musically than we knew. It keeps getting better too. we'll post some bits of things when we get really happy about the way it sounds.

nathan and i were actually involved in the shoot of this picture above. I know you can see us. seriously. creeeepy.

sleep is needed. paper bird tomorrow and more life.

goodnight.

Bed Time

And I remember waking up early on Saturdays and watching PBS. and I remember seeing him there. that wonderful man. he scared me then. he scared me with his banality. and his half baked demeanor. did you know he died of lymphoma? shame. this man was amazing.

Goodnight

My stomach is rumbly.

We are gonna play tomorrow. Maybe record some more stuff. I'm in class, ignoring my teacher. It's inappropriate but I don't care. It's a nice day outside. It's still cold though. It's getting really interesting in the world of Fellow Citizens. The citizenship has spoken...the new albums gonna be weird. keep checkin in, because we got the shit right here. word.

In the famous words of the beloved DJ Birdman:

Yo yo yo yo check it out its ya boi, the freak nasty birdman kickin it straight up live on the one's & two's. These dope ass sounds you be hearin' come straight from da bassment, y'all know how I hold it down. I keeps it real, no fakin' the funk cause I'm a real motha fuckin' g. Wu-Tang.

new demo. taking some time to write

and so it begins. my only intention for starting this blog is to have another page for us to vent all of our musical hullabaloo to random strangers. I plan on ranting more and adding more unneeded detail to a majority of the posts. afterall, it is a blog, isn't it?

We recently recorded a rough demo of a song in matt's garage using three vocal mics to pick up all the instruments live (one mic was a radioshack brand i believe... hi tech shit). The end result is a little long and doesn't quite sound like something we've played before. We're not sure if this kind of sound is what we want to feature on the new record or not. It's fun, but it just kinda strays from our groove (i know, descriptive). anyway, here's a link for that demo - smoke.mp3

We're taking a month or so off from playing live shows. Our schedules just kinda suck and the whole writie-recordie thing seems to be going well. Who knows though, we might be able to squeeze in a show or two if things line up.

for now,
